Kankan Ramos
August 16 – 25, 2022
Art Underground, Mandaluyong City
With a controlled exploration of the principal elements, away from distraction, artist, Kankan Ramos, finds freedom in expressing honesty in the simple, uncovering lasting impressions from momentous epiphanies.
“Bare Minimum” reveals the purity and objectivity of the art piece itself. Kankan and her exhibition envelop the room with an immediate and visceral experience, fostering personal connections and creating internal dialogs with the innate qualities of the piece. Blanketed in white, Kankan’s sculptures manifest an introspection of the essential. In this series, the artist encourages a deviation from preconceived notions of what her art is and should be, positing one to primarily follow the tranquil rhythm of each ebb and flow of her work, eventually proceeding with intimate interpretations or representations secondarily.
As humanity continues to discover life, Kankan hopes mankind learns to unburden the self from the unnecessary and embrace the essence of the bare minimum.
